The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999062 is a wire-gauge No. 13 jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in production and maintenance environments. Ground from high speed steel (HSS) and finished with a steam oxide coating, it provides moderate lubricity and corrosion resistance during drilling operations. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to a conventional 118-degree point. The web-thinned, tapered web construction improves chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. Flute length is 2.3125 inches and overall length is 3.5 inches. This bit is sold individually and is sized at 0.1850 inches decimal diameter.
This bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It fits standard drill chucks via its straight cylindrical shank and is applicable in hand-held drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling operations requiring a wire-gauge No. 13 hole. The Series R18B designation places it in the heavy-duty jobber category conforming to ANSI and NAS 907 standards. Typical users include machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking fabricators performing repetitive through-hole and clearance-hole drilling.
Designed for use with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1850-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per material codes P, M, K, N, and S. Compatible with hand drill, drill press, and CNC drilling setups within the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch drill bit size range category.
Machinists and metalworking technicians should secure the workpiece firmly and ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium to extend tool life; this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace if chipping or wear is visible to maintain hole quality. Follow applicable shop safety standards for rotating tool use, including eye protection and secure workholding.
