The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5999014 is a jobber-length twist drill bit in wire gauge size No. 31, equivalent to 0.1200 inches in decimal. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a standard 118-degree split point angle and a two-flute regular spiral design with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration. The overall length is 2.75 inches, with a 1.625-inch flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 0.1200 inches. Designed for general-purpose drilling applications, it is suited for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical tradespeople working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This drill bit is intended for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It conforms to ANSI standards and carries a flute-to-diameter ratio of 14xD, making it well suited for through-hole and moderate-depth drilling in a wide range of shop and field applications. The right-hand cutting direction and straight shank allow use in standard drill chucks across benchtop and portable drilling equipment. The Series R18P designation indicates it falls within the R10P-R15P-R18P product family from Precision Twist Drill.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber-length drill bit suitable for use in standard drill chucks and drilling fixtures that accept a 0.1200-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per the manufacturer material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
Installation is performed by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and general maintenance technicians. Secure the shank fully in a properly rated drill chuck before operation and confirm chuck key is removed before powering equipment. Maximum drilling depth should not exceed the rated flute length of 1.625 inches without retracting to clear chips. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point geometry is compromised.
