The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998506 is a jobber length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and hard materials. It measures 1/32 inch (0.0313 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 1.375 inches and a flute length of 0.5 inches. The bit is made from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and features a standard 118-degree point angle. A two-flute, regular spiral design provides efficient chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. This bit is installed by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and general trade technicians who need reliable small-diameter drilling performance.
The 5998506 is suited for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. Its jobber length profile makes it a standard choice for bench drill presses, hand drills, and CNC setups where a compact, general-purpose bit is needed. The right-hand cut and regular spiral flute geometry are appropriate for the widest range of common drilling applications across residential and light commercial trade work.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit for use in standard three-jaw drill chucks accepting a 1/32 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for bench drill presses, hand drills, and light CNC drilling operations across a broad range of metal workpiece materials.
Install and replace drill bits only after the drill or drill press is fully powered down and the chuck key is removed from the chuck. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before starting the tool. At this small diameter, use low feed pressure and appropriate cutting fluid when drilling hard materials to avoid bit deflection or breakage. Follow applicable shop safety standards and ANSI B11 machine tool guidelines when operating drill presses.
