The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998426 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The bit measures 9/32 inch (0.2813 inches) in diameter with a 118-degree standard point angle and a bright, uncoated high speed steel construction. Overall length is 4.25 inches with a 2.9375-inch spiral flute length, giving it the extended reach typical of jobber-length tooling. A web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. Installers, machinists, and tradespeople working in fabrication, HVAC rough-in, electrical, and plumbing applications will find this bit suitable for everyday production drilling.
This bit is suited for use in handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC or manual lathes running at appropriate surface speeds for high speed steel tooling. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw chucks without adapters. The Series R10H designation covers the general-purpose jobber family within the PRECISION TWIST DRILL lineup. Right-hand cut, two-flute spiral geometry moves chips out of the hole efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw chuck sized to accept a 9/32-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per workpiece material codes P, K, N, and S.
Secure the shank fully in a properly tightened three-jaw chuck before beginning any drilling operation. Match spindle speed to the workpiece material and bit diameter following standard HSS surface-speed tables — running too fast in hard steel will shorten tool life significantly. Apply cutting fluid when drilling steel or titanium to extend edge life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges and point for wear or chipping before each use; a dull bit increases thrust and can cause workpiece damage or bit breakage.
