The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998358 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and other materials. It is manufactured from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and features a standard 118-degree split-point tip geometry with web thinning for improved penetration and reduced walking on entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.125 inches in diameter, the overall length is 2.75 inches, and the flute length is 1.625 inches. The two-flute spiral design with a regular spiral type provides efficient chip evacuation during drilling operations. This bit is suited for use by maintenance technicians, pipefitters, electricians, HVAC installers, and general trade professionals who require a reliable jobber-length bit for everyday hole-making tasks.
This drill bit is intended for drilling in steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It is well-suited for light to moderate production drilling on the bench, in the field, or during equipment installation and service. The 13xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it appropriate for a wide range of metal-drilling applications common in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades. It is sold individually and must be ordered in multiples of 12.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length replacement or stock drill bit for use in standard 3-jaw chucks on handheld drills, drill presses, and milling machines. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified tradesperson familiar with rotating cutting tools and applicable shop safety practices. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and confirm the bit is centered before applying feed pressure. Coolant through is not supported on this bit, so appropriate cutting fluid applied externally is recommended when drilling harder alloys. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or damage before each use and replace when point geometry is compromised.
