The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998331 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making in a wide range of materials. It measures 15/32 inches (0.4688 inches) in diameter with a 5.75-inch overall length and a standard 118-degree point angle. The bit features a regular spiral flute, a straight-cylindrical shank, and a bright uncoated high speed steel construction. Two flutes provide efficient chip evacuation during drilling. Web thinning reduces thrust requirements at the point, making entry more controlled. This bit is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, HVAC and plumbing tradespeople, and general fabricators who need a reliable, standard-geometry drill for everyday production and repair work.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. It fits the Series R10P-R15P-R18P product line from PRECISION TWIST DRILL. The 4.3125-inch flute length supports drilling depths up to 4-5/16 inches, making it appropriate for through-hole and moderate-depth blind-hole applications in both bench drill press and handheld drill setups common in trade and light industrial environments.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard 3-jaw chuck accepting a 15/32-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including bench drill presses, magnetic drills, and handheld power drills used across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fabrication trades. Part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R10P-R15P-R18P line and meets ANSI specification standards.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify it is centered before beginning any cut. Use a center punch to mark the hole location on hard materials to prevent walking at startup. Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped or secured before drilling. Follow applicable ANSI safety standards and shop-specific PPE requirements when operating drill equipment.
