The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998302 is a jobber-length twist drill bit in No. 14 wire size (0.182 inches decimal), designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and hard materials. Built from high speed steel with a steam oxide coating, it offers adequate lubricity and corrosion resistance for production and maintenance drilling applications. The bit features a standard 118-degree point angle, a regular spiral flute configuration, and a web-thinned tip that reduces thrust and improves center-starting accuracy. Overall length is 3.375 inches with a flute length of 2.1875 inches. Licensed machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians are the typical installers of this tooling.
This drill bit suits drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The 12xD flute-to-diameter ratio is characteristic of jobber-length bits used in drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machining centers for general hole-making tasks. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard three-jaw chucks without additional tooling. It conforms to ANSI standards and fits within the Series R10, R15, and R18 product families from Precision Twist Drill.
Compatible with Series R10, R15, and R18 from Precision Twist Drill. Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length replacement or production drill bit for use in manual or CNC drilling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by machinists, millwrights, or maintenance technicians familiar with rotary cutting tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck before operation, and verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits to prevent premature bit wear. Always use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material when drilling steel or stainless steel. Inspect the cutting edges and web before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
