The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998268 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. It measures 29/64 inch (0.4531 inches) in diameter with a 5.625-inch overall length and a 4.1875-inch spiral flute length. The bit is manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and features a 118-degree standard point angle. A tapered web configuration with web thinning reduces thrust at drill entry. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. Suitable for use by machinists, maintenance mechanics, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and electricians performing rough-in or fabrication work.
This bit is rated for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. The 9xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper hole applications within the 4.1875-inch maximum drilling depth. The two-flute spiral design promotes chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. It conforms to ANSI standards and belongs to the R10P-R15P-R18P series from Precision Twist Drill. Typical applications include structural fabrication, equipment repair, and field drilling in trade and industrial environments.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard three-jaw drill chucks and drill presses accepting a 29/64-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified tradespeople familiar with drilling equipment and safe machining practices. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling and confirm the chuck is tightened to prevent bit slippage. Power down and disconnect the drill or drill press before changing bits. No coolant-through capability is present on this bit; use appropriate cutting fluid externally when drilling hard metals such as stainless steel or titanium to manage heat buildup.
