The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998213 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for production and heavy-duty drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from high-speed cobalt steel with an oxide and straw finish, it delivers improved heat resistance and extended tool life compared to standard HSS bits. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and minimizes the need for a center punch on flat surfaces. With a 13/32-inch diameter and 5-1/4-inch overall length, this bit is sized for general-purpose industrial and trade drilling applications. Manufactured to ANSI and NAS 907 standards, it is suited for licensed machinists, pipefitters, HVAC techs, and electricians drilling through structural steel and similar materials.
This bit is built for drilling steel and hard metals in residential and commercial trade applications. The regular spiral flute geometry and tapered web configuration support efficient chip evacuation during deep drilling passes. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without adapters. Maximum drilling depth is 3-7/8 inches, making it practical for drilling through structural members, pipe hangers, electrical enclosures, and mechanical equipment frames. It carries material application codes for steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, covering a wide range of common trade substrates.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement jobber drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 13/32-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for use across steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloy workpieces as indicated by material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
Install in a drill press, hand drill, or magnetic drill with a chuck rated for the shank diameter before powering the tool. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and use cutting fluid when drilling hard or stainless steel to prevent premature edge wear. Follow applicable OSHA and site safety requirements for rotating tool operation. Inspect the cutting edges and web condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dulling is observed.
