The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998211 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for drilling steel and other demanding workpiece materials. It features a 5/32 inch (0.1562 inch decimal) diameter, a 135-degree split point with web thinning for fast starts and reduced walking, and an oxide and straw-coated finish that improves lubricity and heat resistance during cutting. At 3.125 inches overall length with a 2-inch flute length, this is a standard jobber-ratio bit suitable for through-hole and moderate-depth drilling operations. Machinists, maintenance mechanics, and fabricators working in metal will find this bit well suited to production and repair drilling tasks on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This drill bit is built for general-purpose drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and some high-temp alloys, consistent with the P, M, K, N, and S workpiece material codes. It fits standard drill chucks and drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills accepting straight-cylindrical shanks. The 13xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides good chip clearance in moderately deep holes. The Series R10CO-R15CO-R18CO designation identifies this bit within PRECISION TWIST DRILL's cobalt jobber line and conforms to ANSI and NAS 907 standards.
Designed as a general-purpose cobalt jobber drill bit compatible with standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld power drills equipped with a straight-shank chuck. Part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R10CO-R15CO-R18CO cobalt jobber line.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by a qualified machinist or trained technician following applicable shop safety practices. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm the chuck is fully tightened on the shank before starting the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling steel to extend tool life, as this bit does not feature through-coolant capability. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace when point geometry degrades to avoid workpiece damage or bit breakage.
