The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5998060 is a wire gauge size 59 jobber length drill bit manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish. The bit measures 1.625 inches in overall length and cuts a 0.0410-inch diameter hole using a standard 118-degree point angle. With a two-flute regular spiral design and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration, the bit evacuates chips efficiently and reduces thrust during entry. Right-hand cutting action and a straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks. Designed for general-purpose drilling, this bit meets ANSI standards and is built for production and maintenance use by machinists, tool and die technicians, and skilled tradespeople.
This bit is suited for drilling steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium in both production shop and field maintenance environments. The jobber length format provides a balance of rigidity and reach appropriate for general hole-making tasks. The 0.9375-inch shank length seats securely in standard drill chucks, and the 0.6875-inch flute length accommodates drilling depths up to 11/16 inches. It is well suited to manual drill presses, CNC drilling operations, and hand-held power tools where a small-diameter wire gauge bit is required.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0410-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Belongs to the R10H-R18H series and conforms to ANSI specification for small-diameter wire gauge drill bits used across steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and titanium workpiece materials.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with proper chuck seating and drilling parameters for small-diameter HSS tooling. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify concentricity to avoid bit deflection. When drilling hard materials such as superalloys or titanium, use appropriate cutting fluids and feed rates to prevent premature bit wear; this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
