The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997828 is a wire-gauge jobber-length drill bit sized at No. 75 (0.0210 inches decimal equivalent), designed for drilling operations in steel and a range of other workpiece materials. Manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with an oxide/straw coating, the bit delivers added heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding applications. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and requires no center punch on most surfaces. With an overall length of 1.0 inch and a flute length of 0.25 inches, this bit is intended for close-tolerance, precision drilling tasks performed by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and mechanical contractors.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose production drilling in ferrous metals including steel alloys, as well as compatible use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and some high-temperature alloys per its material code classification (P, M, K, N, S). The right-hand, regular-spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in short-depth hole applications. Maximum drilling depth is 0.25 inches, making this bit appropriate for thin-stock and precision component work rather than deep-hole operations. It is sold individually and must be ordered in multiples of 12.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style replacement or production-supply drill bit for precision machining and mechanical assembly applications requiring a No. 75 wire-gauge bore diameter; part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R10CO-R15CO-R18CO.
This bit is installed by machinists and mechanical technicians using a standard drill press, CNC machining center, or hand-held drill with a compatible chuck accepting a 0.0210-inch straight shank. Secure the bit fully in the chuck before operation and verify zero runout before cutting into finished workpieces. Coolant-through is not supported; use surface-applied cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material when drilling steel to manage heat buildup. Replace the bit at the first sign of dulling or edge chipping to maintain hole tolerance at this diameter.
