The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997763 is a cobalt high-speed steel jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge 36 (0.1065 inches decimal). It features a 135-degree split point with web thinning for fast engagement and reduced walking on hard and abrasive materials. The straw oxide finish provides light surface protection and heat resistance during high-speed drilling operations. With a 2-flute regular spiral configuration and tapered web, it evacuates chips efficiently in through-hole and blind-hole applications. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 1.4375-inch flute length, it fits standard 3-jaw drill chucks with no modification. This bit is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and specialty alloys.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose production drilling in steel and a broad range of workpiece materials including ferrous metals, cast materials, non-ferrous alloys, and some high-temperature alloys as indicated by the P, M, K, N, and S material codes. It is appropriate for bench drill presses, CNC machining centers, hand-held electric drills, and drill motors used in fabrication, maintenance, and field service environments. The straight cylindrical shank accepts any standard chuck in the appropriate size range. The 13xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper drilling relative to bit diameter for a jobber-length tool.
Part of the R10CO-R15CO-R18CO series from PRECISION TWIST DRILL. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 0.1065-inch shank. Suitable for drilling steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and specialty alloys per material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
This bit is installed by machinists or technicians in any standard keyed or keyless drill chuck rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the workpiece is firmly secured before drilling to prevent movement and bit breakage at this small diameter. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for steel and alloy applications to extend tool life, noting that this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dullness is observed, as small-diameter cobalt bits are susceptible to fracture under lateral load.
