The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997745 is a wire gauge No. 53 cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty drilling in steel and other demanding workpiece materials. It measures 0.0595 inches in diameter with an overall length of 1.875 inches and a flute length of 0.875 inches. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to standard 118-degree geometry. An oxide and straw finish provides surface protection and helps with chip identification during use. This bit is intended for installation and fabrication professionals who need consistent performance in tight tolerances on small-diameter holes.
This jobber drill bit is suited for precision drilling in steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and similar materials as indicated by primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S. It is a general-purpose heavy-duty bit appropriate for use in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC equipment where a straight-cylindrical shank and standard spiral flute geometry are required. It conforms to ANSI standards and meets NAS 907 specification requirements, making it appropriate for aerospace and industrial fabrication applications.
Part of the R10CO-R15CO-R18CO series. Designed as a general-purpose cobalt jobber drill for use in steel and multi-material applications across standard straight-shank chucks within the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with small-diameter drill bits. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent deflection or bit breakage at this diameter. Use appropriate cutting fluid for steel applications to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. Inspect the bit for chipping or wear before each use, as cobalt bits at this diameter are susceptible to breakage if run at incorrect speeds or feeds.
