The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997736 is a cobalt high-speed steel jobber-length drill bit sized at No. 30 (0.1285 inches) with a 135-degree split point. The oxide and straw coating reduces friction and extends tool life in ferrous and mixed-material applications. At 2.75 inches overall length with a 1.625-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks without modification. The web-thinned, tapered-web construction reduces the thrust force needed to start a hole. Manufactured to ANSI and NAS 907 standards, the 5997736 is intended for general-purpose production drilling by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working with steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel and a broad range of workpiece materials coded P, M, K, N, and S under ISO material classification. The jobber-length format makes it compatible with standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, hand drills, and drill stands. The straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard Jacobs-style chucks and collet holders. It is a general-purpose choice for job shops, maintenance repair operations, and production environments where consistent hole quality in metal is required.
Designed for use in the R10CO, R15CO, and R18CO series from PRECISION TWIST DRILL. Fits any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.1285-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC machine tool. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and confirm the workpiece is clamped or fixtured before drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling steel to extend bit life, as this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace when performance degrades to avoid oversized or rough holes.
