The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997735 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size No. 5 (0.2055 inches decimal), designed for general-purpose drilling in steel and other metals. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on contact and allows drilling without a center punch in many applications. An oxide and straw finish provides mild lubricity and corrosion resistance during service. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw chucks, and the web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. This bit is suited for use in drill presses, CNC drilling, or handheld power drilling operations performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals.
This cobalt jobber drill is intended for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. It falls within the R10CO-R15CO-R18CO series from Precision Twist Drill, covering heavy-duty general-purpose applications in production and maintenance environments. The 12xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance for the full 2.5-inch maximum drilling depth. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and handheld use. The bit meets ANSI standards and carries a NAS 907 specification designation, making it appropriate for aerospace and industrial maintenance drilling operations.
Part of the Precision Twist Drill R10CO-R15CO-R18CO series. Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose cobalt jobber drill for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks across drill presses, CNC equipment, and handheld power tools where wire gauge No. 5 diameter is required.
Install in a standard three-jaw drill chuck and tighten securely with a chuck key before operating. Machining and drilling operations should follow applicable shop safety procedures, including securing the workpiece and using appropriate cutting fluid for the material being drilled. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is present. Do not exceed the rated maximum drilling depth of 2.5 inches in a single pass without retracting to clear chips.
