The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997723 is a No. 25 wire-gauge cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for production and maintenance drilling in steel and other demanding workpiece materials. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and cutting force at entry, making it well suited for work on harder steels without a center punch. The bit carries an oxide and straw finish that improves lubricity and surface hardness. Overall length is 3 inches, flute length is 1.875 inches, and the straight cylindrical shank diameter is 0.1495 inches. This is a heavy-duty, general-purpose tool built to ANSI and NAS 907 standards and rated for right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute pattern.
This bit is intended for drilling in steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and similar materials where cobalt-grade tooling is preferred over standard HSS. It fits any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.1495-inch straight shank. Typical applications include fabrication shops, machine shops, HVAC and plumbing rough-in work requiring precise small-diameter holes, and general maintenance drilling. The Series R10CO-R15CO-R18CO designation covers the full range of cobalt jobber bits in this family. Single-piece packaging makes it easy to replace individual worn or broken bits without purchasing a set.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock bit for any application requiring a No. 25 wire-gauge (0.1495-inch decimal) jobber-length drill. Compatible with all standard drill chucks and drill presses accepting a straight cylindrical shank. Part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R10CO-R15CO-R18CO cobalt jobber bit family.
Install in a properly sized drill chuck and tighten securely with a chuck key before operation. Power down or de-energize the drill press or hand tool before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling steel to extend bit life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Cobalt bits should be run at reduced RPM compared to standard HSS bits when drilling hardened or stainless steel.
