The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997689 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 13 (0.1850 inches), ground to a 135-degree split-point angle for self-centering starts on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The high-speed steel cobalt construction with an oxide/bronze straw coating improves lubricity and heat resistance during high-feed drilling in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. Overall length is 3.5 inches with a 2.3125-inch flute length and a straight cylindrical shank. It is web-thinned for reduced thrust and faster chip evacuation. This bit is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople using standard drill presses, CNC machines, or hand-held power drills.
The 5997689 is suited for general-purpose through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel and similarly rated materials coded P, M, K, N, and S. The 13xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports deeper drilling relative to bit diameter, making it practical for structural and fabrication work. The regular spiral flute and tapered web configuration handle chip clearance efficiently in production and maintenance drilling scenarios. This is a single-bit unit sold individually.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production drill bit in the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R10CO-R15CO-R18CO. Compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1850-inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials coded P, M, K, N, and S per the supplier specification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or metalworking technicians. Ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is clamped securely before beginning operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for steel and hard-metal applications to extend bit life and manage heat buildup. Do not exceed the drill press or machine spindle speed rating for the bit diameter and workpiece material combination.
