The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997584 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. Built from high-speed steel with a steam oxide coating, it measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) in diameter and 3.75 inches in overall length. The 118-degree standard point angle provides reliable starting and penetration across common shop and field applications. Two spiral flutes with a regular helix clear chips efficiently during drilling, and the web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust at the cutting tip. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and general tradespeople reach for this bit when drilling through ferrous and non-ferrous metals in everyday service and installation work.
The 5997584 is suited for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It carries NAS 907 specification designation and meets ANSI standards, making it appropriate for both shop use and field work. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard 3-jaw drill chucks on corded drills, cordless drills, and drill presses. Maximum drilling depth is 2.5 inches, with a flute length of 2.5 inches and a shank length of 1.25 inches. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 12 units.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard 3-jaw drill chuck accepting a 7/32-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Series designation R10A-R15A-R18A.
Install into a properly sized 3-jaw chuck and tighten securely with a chuck key before operation. Power down and disconnect the drill from its power source before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use and replace worn bits to maintain hole-quality and prevent workpiece damage.
