The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997576 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and hard materials. It measures 5/32 inch (0.1563 inch decimal) in diameter with a 3.125-inch overall length and a 2-inch spiral flute. The 118-degree standard point angle and steam oxide coating make it well suited for repeated use in production and maintenance drilling. The web-thinned, tapered web construction reduces entry force and helps keep the bit on center at the start of the cut. This bit is intended for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, pipefitters, electricians, and other trade professionals who regularly drill into steel and similar materials.
This bit performs across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It is rated under NAS 907 specification and conforms to ANSI standards, making it appropriate for both shop and field applications. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. With a flute-to-diameter ratio of 13xD and a maximum drilling depth of 2 inches, it handles typical through-hole and blind-hole operations in plate, structural members, and fabricated assemblies.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length replacement drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 5/32-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the R10A-R15A-R18A series by PRECISION TWIST DRILL.
Install in a standard keyed or keyless drill chuck and tighten securely before operation. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace when the point shows signs of dulling to maintain hole quality and prevent workpiece damage.
