The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997565 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and hard materials. Built from high speed steel with a steam oxide coating, it measures 3/32 inch (0.0938 inch decimal) in diameter with a 2.25-inch overall length and a 1.25-inch flute length. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web geometry promote accurate starting and efficient chip clearance. Licensed HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and mechanical contractors regularly reach for jobber-length HSS bits when drilling pilot holes, mounting brackets, or running wire and pipe penetrations through steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous stock.
This bit suits a wide range of trade drilling applications where a standard jobber length is appropriate. The right-hand spiral flute with regular helix handles steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It conforms to ANSI standards and carries the NAS 907 specification designation, making it appropriate for demanding shop and field environments where dimensional and performance consistency matter. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard 3-jaw chucks on corded drills, drill presses, and right-angle drill attachments without modification.
Designed for use in any standard 3-jaw chuck accepting a 3/32-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium in accordance with primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
Secure the bit firmly in the chuck and verify zero runout before drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to extend tool life and prevent work hardening. Do not exceed the rated maximum drilling depth of 1.25 inches without retracting to clear chips. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or dullness is detected.
