The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997510 is a 1/8 inch diameter jobber length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel with a steam oxide coating, the bit resists heat buildup and surface corrosion during extended drilling operations. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web geometry promote accurate entry and reduced thrust force. With an overall length of 2.75 inches and a 1.625 inch spiral flute, this bit is sized for the typical depth-to-diameter demands found in HVAC fabrication, plumbing rough-in, electrical panel work, and general metal fab tasks. It is installed and used by licensed trade technicians and experienced fabricators.
This jobber length bit is suited for drilling into steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. The regular spiral flute promotes chip evacuation during through-hole drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.125 inch diameter fits standard drill chucks without adapters, making it practical for both bench drill press and handheld cordless or corded drill use across residential and light commercial job sites.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length replacement drill bit in the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series R10A-R15A-R18A for use in standard 1/8 inch straight-shank drill chucks across bench, floor, and handheld drilling applications.
Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck and verify the bit runs true before applying cutting pressure. Power down and disconnect or lock out any stationary drill press before changing bits. Always use appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece to prevent rotation during drilling. Refer to the tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety codes for feed rate and speed settings when drilling hard materials such as stainless steel or superalloys.
