The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997126 is a taper length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling across a wide range of metals and materials. Built from high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this bit measures 0.0860 inches in diameter (wire size 44) with an overall length of 4.25 inches and a parabolic flute length of 2.25 inches. The 135-degree split point is self-centering, reducing the need for a center punch on most surfaces. The straight shank and right-hand cut make it compatible with standard drill chucks. It is suited for machinists, fabricators, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working in metal fabrication or mechanical service environments.
This bit is designed for use in drilling alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, tempered steel, hardened steel, cast iron, malleable iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, copper, magnesium, magnesium alloy, nickel, titanium, titanium alloy, and graphite. It is a heavy-duty grade bit rated for demanding drilling applications where a standard jobber-length bit may lack the reach or chip-clearing performance needed. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation, making this bit well-suited for deeper holes where chip packing is a concern.
Designed as a general-purpose taper length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0860-inch straight shank. Compatible with a broad range of drill presses, CNC drilling machines, and hand-held electric drills used in metal fabrication, maintenance, and machining applications.
Install and remove this bit only with the drilling machine powered off and the chuck key removed from the chuck. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the material being drilled to extend tool life, particularly when drilling stainless steel, titanium, or hardened steel. Wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety standards when operating drilling equipment.
