The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997105 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal and non-ferrous materials. Ground to a 135-degree split point with web thinning, it starts on contact without a center punch and reduces walking on flat or curved surfaces. The straight cylindrical shank measures 11/32 inch in diameter, matching the bit diameter for easy chuck retention. Overall length is 4-3/4 inches with a 3-7/16 inch flute length, giving it the extended reach typical of jobber-series bits. The bright, uncoated finish suits general shop and field use where coating durability is not a primary concern. Machinists, maintenance mechanics, and HVAC or plumbing trades installers use this bit for clearance holes, pilot holes, and through-drilling in steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous stock.
This bit is suited for hand-held drill use, drill press work, and light CNC or production setups where a standard jobber length is appropriate. Primary workpiece materials include steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys. With a 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry, it handles chip evacuation efficiently in most common drilling applications encountered in residential and light commercial trade work.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw chuck accepting an 11/32 inch straight shank, including handheld drills, drill presses, and light machining centers used across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general fabrication trades.
Install and remove drill bits only with the power source disconnected or the tool switched off and the chuck fully stopped. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace bits showing signs of wear, chipping, or overheating discoloration. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement and reduce the risk of bit breakage.
