The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5997005 is a jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 48, with a decimal diameter of 0.0760 inches. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it features a 135-degree split-point angle and a parabolic spiral flute for efficient chip evacuation during drilling operations. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. With an overall length of 2 inches and a flute length of 1 inch, this bit is sized for close-tolerance drilling in tight workspaces. It is a general-purpose, heavy-duty grade bit suited for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metal fabricators.
This bit is designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It fits production drilling, maintenance repair, and fabrication applications where precise small-diameter holes are required. The Series QC21P designation places it within a heavy-duty general-purpose line built to ANSI standards. The right-hand cut and web-thinned tapered web reduce thrust and improve hole entry, making it practical for hand-held drill use as well as drill press and CNC applications.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0760-inch straight-cylindrical shank across drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with small-diameter drill bit handling. Secure the workpiece before drilling and confirm the chuck is tightened properly before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to extend tool life and prevent work hardening. Replace the bit if chipping, dulling, or deflection is observed, as small-diameter high speed steel bits are susceptible to breakage under side loading.
