The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5996814 is a 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) diameter jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point for accurate starting without center-punching on most surfaces. The parabolic-style spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup during extended drilling runs. At 3.75 inches overall length with a 2.5 inch flute length, it fits standard three-jaw drill chucks and is a routine stock item for any service van or shop drill station. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in keyless or keyed chucks.
This bit is well-suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials in residential and light commercial service work. It belongs to the QC21P series, which targets heavy-duty general-purpose drilling applications. Typical use cases include fabrication, HVAC bracket and panel work, plumbing rough-in penetrations, and electrical trade drilling where a fractional-sized bit in the 7/32 inch range is called for. The 2.5 inch maximum drilling depth covers the vast majority of field drilling tasks.
Designed as a standard ANSI jobber-length drill bit for use in any keyed or keyless drill chuck accepting a 7/32 inch straight-cylindrical shank, including handheld drills, drill presses, and milling machine setups.
This bit is installed and serviced by HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and general fabricators using handheld or bench-mounted drilling equipment. Always secure the workpiece before drilling and use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to extend bit life and reduce heat. Inspect the cutting edges and web area for wear or chipping before each use; a dull or damaged bit should be resharpened or replaced rather than forced through material. Follow applicable shop safety standards and wear eye protection during all drilling operations.
