The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5996648 is a high speed steel (HSS) jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. Ground to a 135-degree split point with web thinning, the bit starts on contact and reduces the thrust needed to penetrate the workpiece. The straight cylindrical shank measures 2.5 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 2.25 inches. With two regular spiral flutes and a bright, uncoated finish, this drill runs clean and transfers heat efficiently. It conforms to DIN 338 and fits the QC21PM series. HVAC sheet metal fabricators, plumbers, and electricians routinely reach for bits in this size range for pilot holes and small-bore work.
This bit is sized at 2.50 mm (0.0984 inches) and is suited for drilling into mild steel, aluminum, copper, and similar non-ferrous stock. The 1.1875-inch flute length supports a maximum drilling depth of approximately 1.18 inches, making it appropriate for thin-gauge sheet metal, strut, brackets, and light structural components encountered in mechanical and electrical trade work. It is sold individually and is compatible with standard drill chucks and quick-change adapters that accept straight cylindrical shanks in this diameter range.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and quick-change adapters accepting 2.5 mm straight cylindrical shanks. Rated for use in steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials per primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
This bit is installed by trade professionals using handheld or bench-mounted drills with an appropriately sized chuck. Secure the workpiece before drilling and operate at a spindle speed appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter. Wear eye protection and keep hands clear of the flutes during and after use, as the bit retains heat. Replace the bit when point wear causes walking, excessive thrust, or burn marks on the workpiece surface.
