The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5996267 is a 29/64 inch (0.4531 inches) diameter jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Built from M2 high speed steel with a bronze coating, this bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to a standard 118-degree point. The two-flute spiral design and web-thinned, tapered web construction promote chip evacuation and reduce torque in tough materials. This is a right-hand cutting bit with a straight-cylindrical shank. It is part of the HX10-HX15-HX18 series and conforms to ANSI standards.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling applications where the workpiece material is ferrous metal, including mild steel, stainless, and cast iron, as well as superalloys and titanium. The 9xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides the extended reach of a jobber-length bit while maintaining rigidity. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills where a straight-shank, general-purpose bit is specified. No coolant-through capability is required for standard setups, though external cutting fluid is recommended when drilling stainless or titanium.

Secure the shank fully in the chuck before beginning operation. When drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium, apply external cutting fluid to extend tool life and manage heat buildup. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for M2 HSS at the given workpiece material hardness.
