The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5996064 is a cobalt aircraft extension drill bit designed for drilling through hard metals, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys in demanding trade and production environments. Built to NAS 907 Type J standards, it features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and eliminates the need for a center punch on most surfaces. The web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust during entry and helps maintain chip clearance throughout the cut. With a 0.191-inch diameter straight-cylindrical shank and a 2.3125-inch spiral flute length, this is a purpose-built tool for machinists, aerospace maintenance technicians, and metalworking trades requiring consistent performance in tough materials.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose metal drilling applications where standard high-speed steel bits fall short. The cobalt construction gives it superior heat resistance, making it appropriate for production drilling, sheet metal work, and structural applications where friction and heat buildup are common. The extended flute-to-diameter ratio of 4xD supports deeper hole entry relative to bit diameter. It is sold and packaged individually and is well matched to hand drill, drill press, and CNC drilling operations requiring a Wire Size 11 bit.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock drill bit for applications requiring a Wire Size 11 (0.191-inch) cobalt aircraft extension drill, Series CO501-6, conforming to NAS 907 Type J specifications.
This drill bit is intended for use by machinists, aircraft maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople. Secure the shank firmly in a properly rated drill chuck before operation and confirm chuck and spindle ratings are appropriate for the material being drilled. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety procedures when operating drill presses or hand drills. Do not exceed recommended feed rates or use this bit on materials for which cobalt tooling is not rated, as improper use can cause premature wear or bit breakage.
