The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995907 is a No. 47 wire-size jobber-length drill bit ground from high-speed steel (HSS) and finished with a straw (bronze) coating. It measures 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) in diameter with a 2-inch overall length and a 1-inch flute length. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and requires less thrust than a conventional 118-degree point. The web-thinned, tapered-web construction keeps cutting forces low through the full 1-inch maximum drilling depth. This bit is a general-purpose, heavy-duty grade tool suited for machining operations handled by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians.
This drill bit is rated for drilling high-temperature alloys and covers the P, M, K, and S workpiece material codes, making it appropriate for steels, stainless steels, cast irons, and heat-resistant superalloys. The regular right-hand spiral flute geometry evacuates chips efficiently in these harder materials. The straight cylindrical shank (0.0781 inch diameter) fits standard drill chucks on benchtop drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills. It belongs to the HX10-HX15-HX18 series, which targets demanding drilling applications requiring tight size tolerances at small diameters.
Designed for use in applications requiring a No. 47 wire-gauge drill (0.0781 inch / 5/64 inch diameter) and compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks across benchtop, floor-standing, and CNC drilling equipment in the HX10-HX15-HX18 series application range.
Install the straight shank fully into a compatible drill chuck and tighten securely before operation. Ensure the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement during drilling. Apply appropriate cutting fluid when drilling high-temperature alloys to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges before each use — small-diameter bits are susceptible to breakage if run at incorrect feed rates or angles.
