The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995881 is a wire gauge No. 41 jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and high-strength materials. It measures 0.0960 inches in diameter with a 2.375-inch overall length and features a 135-degree split-point geometry with web thinning for reduced thrust and self-centering entry. The bronze coating provides lubricity and heat resistance during drilling. Made from high speed steel (HSS), this bit handles repeated use in production and maintenance drilling environments. It is installed and used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium — covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. The 2-flute spiral flute design with a regular spiral and tapered web configuration promotes chip evacuation in through-hole and moderate-depth drilling applications. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks. Typical applications include production drilling, maintenance and repair operations, and fabrication work where consistent hole quality in a 0.0960-inch diameter is required.
Part of the HX10-HX15-HX18 series. Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0960-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for use with benchtop drill presses, handheld electric drills, and CNC drilling setups configured for small-diameter wire gauge bits.
Installation is performed by machinists and mechanical tradespeople using standard 3-jaw or collet-style drill chucks. Secure the shank fully into the chuck and verify concentricity before drilling. Power down or de-energize the drilling machine before changing bits. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 1.375 inches for this bit length, and use cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to manage heat buildup.
