The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995850 is a wire-gauge jobber-length drill bit sized No. 35 (0.1100 inches decimal equivalent) designed for general-purpose hole-making in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The 135-degree split-point geometry reduces walking and requires less thrust than a conventional 118-degree point, making it well-suited for hard steels and stainless. The bronze coating provides a moderate level of lubricity and heat resistance during drilling. Manufactured from high-speed steel with a web-thinned, tapered-web construction, this bit is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople across a wide range of production and field applications.
This jobber drill is intended for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The spiral flute with regular helix evacuates chips efficiently in through-hole and blind-hole drilling. With a flute-to-diameter ratio of 14xD and a maximum drilling depth of 1.5 inches, it handles standard jobber-depth holes in both benchtop and handheld drill applications. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. It is appropriate for use in CNC drilling, drill presses, and hand drills in light manufacturing, maintenance, and fabrication environments.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld power drills. Part of the PRECISION TWIST DRILL Series HX10-HX15-HX18 line of high-speed steel jobber bits. Suitable for workpiece materials coded P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (superalloys and titanium) per ISO material group classification.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians securing the straight shank in a keyed or keyless drill chuck. Verify chuck capacity accommodates the 0.1100-inch shank before mounting. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or titanium to prevent work hardening and premature bit wear. Allow the bit to cool between deep passes and clear chips regularly to avoid flute packing and breakage.
