The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995827 is a cobalt taper length drill bit designed for demanding metal-cutting applications in industrial and trade environments. It features a 135-degree split point that enables self-centering starts without a center punch, reducing walking on hard or coated surfaces. The bit is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel with a coated finish for extended tool life under heat and friction. With a straight shank and right-hand spiral flute, it is compatible with standard drill chucks and suitable for use in drill presses, CNC machines, and handheld power drills. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and fabrication tradespeople are the primary users of this series.
The 5995827 is built for production drilling in tough materials where standard HSS bits lose their edge. Its 3-inch flute length and 5-3/8-inch overall length give it reach for deeper holes without sacrificing chip clearance. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust requirements in harder alloys and maintains cutting efficiency across a wide range of workpiece materials. It is well-suited for fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and machine shops working with stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron, nickel alloys, and non-ferrous metals.
Designed for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, cermet, copper, graphite, hardened steel, high strength bronze, magnesium, magnesium alloy, malleable iron, nickel, nickel alloy, reinforced plastic materials, and stainless steel. Straight shank fits standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1470-inch shank diameter.
Install in a compatible drill chuck and tighten securely before operation. Power down and de-energize any machine tool before changing bits. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to maximize bit life, particularly when drilling stainless steel or hardened alloys. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines during setup and use.
