The PRECISION TWIST DRILL 5995467 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It measures 13/32 inches (0.4062 inches) in diameter with a 5.25-inch overall length and a 3.875-inch flute length. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 118-degree standard drill point and a left-hand cutting direction. The two-flute, regular spiral configuration and web-thinned, tapered web design help reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation. This bit is part of the Series L10 and conforms to ANSI standards. It is installed and used by machinists, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and electricians for metal drilling in trade applications.
This drill bit is suited for jobber-length drilling operations in residential and commercial trade settings. Typical applications include drilling through steel plate, cast iron pipe fittings, electrical enclosures, and structural steel members. The left-hand cutting direction makes it particularly useful for extracting broken fasteners and reverse-drilling applications. The straight shank fits standard three-jaw drill chucks without adapters. The 10xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance for through-hole drilling at moderate depths up to 3.875 inches.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks. Primary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron, with material codes P, M, K, N, and S indicating suitability across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
This bit is installed by machinists and trade professionals using standard keyed or keyless drill chucks that accept straight shanks. Always power down and de-energize or de-pressurize the workpiece assembly before drilling into live panels, pressurized pipe, or structural members. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling hard ferrous metals to extend tool life and reduce heat buildup. Left-hand bits should be used at moderate, controlled speeds to prevent chuck slippage during reverse-direction operation.
