The PRECISION BRAND 15450 is a zinc-finished, low-carbon steel key stock used to secure rotating components — such as gears, pulleys, and sprockets — to shafts in mechanical drive systems. Each piece measures 0.5 inches wide by 0.375 inches tall by 12 inches long and is manufactured to ASTM A108 material specification with a Rockwell B80-90 hardness rating. This pack contains six individual pieces of key stock, making it a practical stocking item for shops and field technicians who service industrial equipment, HVAC blower assemblies, pump drives, and similar power-transmission applications. The zinc finish provides basic corrosion resistance for general-purpose use.
Low-carbon steel key stock of this cross-section is commonly used in light-to-medium duty shaft-and-hub assemblies across residential and commercial mechanical systems. Typical applications include blower wheel hubs, belt-drive pulleys, compressor couplings, and pump impeller shafts wherever a standard rectangular key profile is specified. Key stock installation is typically performed by millwrights, industrial mechanics, or HVAC technicians during drive assembly or component replacement. De-energize and lock out the equipment before removing or installing any drive components. Cut the key stock to the required length using a bandsaw, hacksaw, or cold cut saw, then deburr all edges before fitting into the keyway. Do not drive key stock into an undersized keyway with excessive force, as this can distort the hub bore or shaft.
