The PRECISION BRAND 15375 is a zinc-finished, low-carbon steel key stock used to secure rotating components — such as gears, pulleys, and sprockets — to shafts in mechanical drive assemblies. Each piece measures 3/8 inch wide by 5/16 inch thick by 12 inches long and meets ASTM A108 material specification. Hardness is rated Rockwell B80-90, giving the stock enough shear resistance for general-duty power transmission applications without being brittle. This pack contains 6 pieces. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance mechanics are the primary installers for this type of component.
This key stock is suited for use in industrial, commercial, and light manufacturing environments wherever a standard rectangular key is required to transmit torque between a shaft and a hub. Typical applications include conveyor drives, pump shafts, fan assemblies, and gear reducers. The 12-inch length allows the installer to cut individual keys to exact length for the specific keyway dimension required on site.
Designed as a standard rectangular key stock for use in keyways requiring a 3/8-inch wide by 5/16-inch thick key, consistent with common shaft-and-hub drive assemblies across industrial and commercial mechanical equipment.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or millwright. Shut down and lock out the drive system before removing or installing any key stock in accordance with applicable LOTO procedures. The stock should be cut to length using appropriate metal-cutting tools and deburred before fitting into the keyway. Verify keyway and key stock dimensions match before assembly to ensure proper fit and load transfer.
