The PRECISION BRAND 15225 is a zinc-finished, low-carbon steel key stock used to secure rotating components — such as gears, pulleys, and sprockets — to shafts in mechanical drive assemblies. Each piece measures 5/16 inch wide by 3/16 inch high by 12 inches long and meets ASTM A108 material specification. Hardness is rated Rockwell B80-90, providing reliable shear resistance under normal drive loads. This package contains six pieces of identical key stock, giving technicians extra material for multiple repairs or installations in a single job. Licensed millwrights, maintenance mechanics, and industrial service technicians are the typical installers.
This key stock is suited for general-purpose power transmission applications in both light industrial and commercial mechanical systems. It fits standard keyway slots machined to 5/16 x 3/16 inch dimensions and is commonly used during motor, pump, fan, and conveyor shaft service. The zinc finish provides basic corrosion resistance for indoor and moderate-environment installations. The 12-inch length allows field cutting to exact fit using a hacksaw or cold chisel.
Designed for use in standard 5/16 x 3/16 inch keyway slots on shafts and hubs in general-purpose mechanical power transmission assemblies.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed millwright or qualified maintenance mechanic. De-energize and lock out all power to the drive system before removing or installing key stock. The key stock may be cut to length using a hacksaw and deburred before fitting into the keyway. Ensure the keyway slot dimensions match the key stock cross-section to prevent slippage or shaft damage.
