The PRECISION BRAND 15150 is a zinc-finished, low-carbon steel key stock bar used to secure rotating components such as pulleys, gears, and sprockets to shafts in power transmission assemblies. Each bar measures 0.25 inches wide by 0.125 inches tall by 12 inches long and is manufactured to ASTM A108 material specification. Hardness falls in the Rockwell B80-90 range, giving the stock enough shear strength for standard drive applications while remaining machinable for custom-length cuts. This package contains 6 pieces. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
Key stock of this profile is commonly used in light-to-medium duty shaft-and-hub assemblies found in industrial equipment, conveyor drives, pump shafts, HVAC fan assemblies, and general mechanical power transmission setups. The 0.25 x 0.125 inch cross-section fits standard 1/4-inch keyways milled into shafts and hubs. The zinc finish provides a basic level of corrosion resistance suitable for indoor and light-exposure environments. Field techs typically cut pieces to the required length using a bandsaw, angle grinder, or hacksaw before installation.
Designed as a standard replacement key stock for shaft-and-hub assemblies using a 1/4-inch wide by 1/8-inch tall keyway profile in industrial, commercial, and mechanical power transmission applications.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or millwright. De-energize and lock out the equipment before removing any shaft-mounted components. Key stock is commonly cut to length in the field using a bandsaw or hacksaw and deburred before seating in the keyway. Ensure the key fits snugly without binding in both the shaft keyway and hub keyway before final assembly.
