The PRECISION BRAND 15125 is a zinc-finished, low-carbon steel key stock bar used to secure rotating components — such as gears, pulleys, and sprockets — to shafts in mechanical drive assemblies. Each bar measures 3/16 inch wide by 1/8 inch thick by 12 inches long and conforms to ASTM A108 material specification. Hardness is rated at Rockwell B80-90, providing reliable shear resistance under normal drive loads. This pack includes 6 pieces of cut-to-length key stock. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians install this type of key stock when rebuilding or assembling keyed shaft connections in industrial and commercial mechanical systems.
This key stock is suited for use in light to medium-duty shaft-to-hub connections found in conveyor systems, pump assemblies, fan drives, and general mechanical power transmission equipment. The 12-inch length allows field cutting to the exact finished key length required. The zinc finish provides a measure of corrosion resistance during storage and handling. It is commonly stocked in maintenance shops and fabrication environments where various key sizes are needed on demand.
Designed as a standard key stock replacement for keyed shaft-and-hub connections requiring a 3/16 inch wide by 1/8 inch thick key in light to medium-duty mechanical power transmission applications.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or millwright. Shut down and lock out all power to the drive system before removing or installing key stock. The bar should be cut to the required key length using appropriate metal-cutting tools and deburred before fitting into the keyway. Ensure the keyway and hub bore are clean and free of burrs before assembly to achieve proper fit and avoid premature wear.
