The PRECISION BRAND 14400 is a zinc-plated square keystock measuring 9/16 inches on each side and 12 inches in length. Keystock is a precision-cut bar stock used to create a mechanical connection between a rotating shaft and a hub, pulley, gear, or sprocket, preventing relative rotation under load. The zinc plating provides a basic level of corrosion resistance suitable for indoor and light-duty industrial environments. Each pack contains 4 pieces, making it practical for stocking multiple repair points or staging spares on a service vehicle. This keystock is sized and finished to standard tolerances for straightforward fit in standard keyways.
Square keystock in the 9/16-inch size is commonly used in light to medium industrial power transmission applications. Typical install scenarios include drive shaft assemblies in HVAC equipment, conveyor systems, pump drives, fan assemblies, and general machinery repair. Maintenance technicians, millwrights, and mechanical contractors cut keystock to the required length on site using a cold saw or angle grinder, then dress the cut ends before fitting. This 4-piece pack suits both single-job and multi-job service calls where multiple keys may be needed.
Designed as a standard-tolerance replacement or stock keystock for any application requiring a 9/16-inch square key in a corresponding standard keyway on rotating shaft assemblies.
Installation is typically performed by a millwright, maintenance mechanic, or qualified technician. De-energize and lock out the equipment per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures before removing or installing keystock. Cut keystock to the required length using appropriate metal-cutting tools and deburr all cut edges before fitting to avoid damaging the keyway or mating hub bore. Do not force an oversized or burred key into a keyway, as this can damage the shaft or hub.
