The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL CO. US PAD200-DUCTR is a duct relay detector designed for air handling and HVAC duct smoke detection applications. It functions as a sampling-type smoke detector that draws air from the duct airstream and monitors for the presence of combustion particles. When smoke is detected, the relay output triggers the connected fire alarm or building automation system to initiate a response, such as shutting down air handlers to prevent smoke from spreading throughout a structure. This unit ships as a single detector and is suited for commercial and light industrial fire protection systems.
The PAD200-DUCTR is used in commercial buildings, schools, hospitals, and other occupancies where HVAC ductwork requires smoke detection per NFPA 72 and NFPA 90A requirements. It mounts directly to supply or return air ducts and is typically installed by licensed fire alarm contractors or HVAC technicians working under fire protection system permits. Compatible systems include central station fire alarm panels and building management systems equipped with relay-compatible inputs.
Designed as an OEM-style duct relay detector for commercial fire alarm and HVAC air handling systems requiring duct smoke detection with relay output capability.
Installation should be performed by a licensed fire alarm contractor or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, and all applicable local codes. Disconnect and lock out power to the air handling unit and fire alarm panel before beginning installation. The detector must be mounted so that the sampling tubes are correctly positioned within the duct airstream per the manufacturer instructions. After installation, perform a full functional test of the relay output and connected panel response before returning the system to service.
