The Potter Electric Signal PE-LFHSR is a low frequency sounder strobe designed for use as a fire alarm notification appliance in life safety systems. Low frequency audible tones in the 520 Hz range are recognized for their effectiveness in alerting occupants, including those with certain hearing impairments, meeting modern code requirements for sleeping areas and other protected spaces. This unit combines an audible sounder with a visible strobe output in a single device, reducing installation points and simplifying wiring runs. It is installed by licensed fire alarm contractors and low-voltage electricians working on listed fire alarm control panel systems.
The PE-LFHSR is suited for residential and light commercial fire alarm applications where code-compliant low frequency audible notification is required alongside strobe signaling. Typical installations include sleeping areas in hotels, dormitories, apartment buildings, and assisted living facilities where NFPA 72 mandates low frequency audible appliances. The combination sounder-strobe form factor makes it appropriate for new construction as well as retrofit projects where a single device must satisfy both audible and visible notification requirements in a single rough-in location.
Designed as an OEM-style notification appliance for use on compatible fire alarm control panel notification appliance circuits meeting applicable listing and voltage requirements.
Installation must be performed by a licensed fire alarm contractor or qualified low-voltage electrician in accordance with NFPA 72 and all applicable local codes. Disconnect and lock out the fire alarm control panel notification appliance circuit before making any wiring connections. Verify that the panel's notification appliance circuit voltage and current output are within the device's rated parameters before energizing. Do not install in environments outside the device's rated temperature or humidity range.
