The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL pad100-sb is an addressable sounder base designed for use with ARC and AFC series fire alarm detector heads. The base measures 6 inches and integrates a sounder element into the mounting base itself, allowing the unit to produce an audible alert without requiring a separate horn or sounder device. A built-in locking feature secures the detector head in place and can be engaged or removed in the field as needed. Once the detector head is removed, the sounder is directly accessible from the bottom of the unit, simplifying maintenance and service access. Licensed fire alarm technicians and low-voltage contractors are the primary installers of this device.
This sounder base is suited for addressable fire alarm systems in commercial and light-industrial applications where space-efficient, integrated detection and audible notification are required. It is designed to work within ARC and AFC series addressable detector configurations, making it appropriate for panel-driven systems that require individual device addressing. The field-removable locking feature gives installers flexibility during commissioning and maintenance without requiring special tools or replacement hardware.
Designed for use with POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL ARC and AFC series addressable detector heads as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician or qualified low-voltage contractor in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable local codes. De-energize the addressable loop and follow the fire alarm control panel manufacturer lockout procedures before installing or removing the sounder base. Verify head-locking feature engagement after installation to ensure the detector head is properly secured. Do not force the locking mechanism, as it is designed for tool-free field adjustment.
