The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL eolr is a 5.1K ohm end of line resistor assembly used in fire alarm and security detection circuits. End of line resistors are installed at the last device in a supervised initiating device circuit or notification appliance circuit to establish a baseline current draw that the control panel monitors continuously. A change in that baseline indicates a fault, open, or short condition. This component is a standard part of supervised loop wiring and is installed by licensed fire alarm technicians and security system professionals.
The eolr is suited for supervised initiating device circuits and notification appliance circuits in commercial and residential fire alarm systems. It is placed at the terminal end of a wired loop to allow the panel to distinguish between a normal standby state, an active alarm condition, and a wiring fault. Typical installation scenarios include new system rough-in, device replacement, and circuit troubleshooting where the original end of line resistor has been removed or damaged.
Designed as an OEM-style end of line resistor assembly for use with supervised fire alarm and security detection circuits requiring a 5.1K ohm termination value.
Installation should be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician in accordance with NFPA 72 and local authority having jurisdiction requirements. Before servicing any circuit, notify the monitoring station and disable the affected zone at the control panel to prevent false alarms. The resistor must be installed at the last device in the supervised loop, not at an intermediate point. Restore supervision and verify normal standby current at the panel after installation.
