The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL CO. US VSR-F-EX-2 is a vane-type waterflow switch with a single-pole double-throw (SPDT) contact configuration, designed for use in wet-pipe fire sprinkler systems. When water movement is detected in the pipe, the internal vane deflects and actuates the SPDT contacts, triggering an alarm signal to a fire alarm control panel or monitoring system. This type of device is a core component in automatic sprinkler supervision and is installed by licensed fire protection contractors or journeymen pipefitters working under NFPA 13 requirements.
The VSR-F-EX-2 is suited for waterflow detection in commercial and residential fire suppression piping. It mounts directly to the sprinkler system riser or branch piping and provides the electrical signal output required to interface with fire alarm systems. This switch is categorized under waterflow equipment and is sold as an individual unit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation waterflow switch for wet-pipe fire sprinkler systems requiring vane-type flow detection with SPDT electrical output.
Installation must be performed by a licensed fire protection contractor in accordance with NFPA 13 and applicable local codes. De-energize the fire alarm panel and shut off system water pressure before installing or replacing the waterflow switch. Verify proper vane sizing for the pipe diameter during installation. After installation, perform a flow test to confirm alarm actuation and verify signal receipt at the control panel before returning the system to service.
