The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL CO. US BT-80 is a sealed lead acid (SLA) standby battery rated at 12 volts and 8 amp-hours. It provides backup power to fire alarm control panels, security systems, and similar life-safety equipment during primary power loss. The sealed, maintenance-free construction requires no electrolyte refilling and is designed for long-term standby float service. Licensed fire alarm technicians and security system installers are the primary end users for this battery type.
This battery is suited for residential and commercial fire alarm systems, burglar alarm panels, access control systems, and emergency lighting units that require a 12-volt SLA backup source. It is sold as a single unit and is sized for panel enclosures that accept a standard 12V 8Ah form factor battery.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for 12-volt 8Ah sealed lead acid battery positions in fire alarm control panels, security system enclosures, and emergency lighting equipment.
Installation should be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician or qualified security system installer in accordance with NFPA 72 and the panel manufacturer's service documentation. Disconnect or disable the panel's AC primary power and follow the manufacturer's battery swap procedure before removing the existing battery. Observe correct polarity when connecting leads — reverse polarity can damage the charging circuit. Dispose of the removed battery in compliance with local regulations governing lead acid battery recycling.
