The POTTER ELECTRIC SIGNAL CO. US PFC-5008 is an 8-zone conventional fire alarm control panel (FACP) housed in a red cabinet without an included digital alarm communicator transmitter (DACT). Conventional FACPs divide a protected facility into discrete detection zones, allowing fire alarm technicians to quickly identify the area of alarm activation. The PFC-5008 is designed for installation in commercial or light-industrial buildings where a straightforward, zone-based fire detection and notification system is required. Licensed fire alarm technicians and low-voltage electricians are the typical installers for this class of panel.
The PFC-5008 is suited for conventional fire alarm system applications across commercial, institutional, and light-industrial occupancies. It accepts conventional initiating device circuits across its 8 zones, supporting smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual pull stations, and other listed conventional devices. Because it ships without a DACT, a separate communicator or monitoring device must be added where central station monitoring is required by the authority having jurisdiction. This makes the panel adaptable to facilities that use a third-party communicator or a local-only alarm configuration.
Designed as an OEM-style conventional fire alarm control panel compatible with listed conventional initiating devices and notification appliances typical of 8-zone commercial fire alarm system installations.
Installation must be performed by a licensed fire alarm technician or low-voltage electrician in accordance with NFPA 72 and all applicable local codes. Disconnect and lock out all power sources, including AC mains and battery backup, before making any wiring connections. The authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) must be consulted to determine whether a DACT or other monitoring communicator is required for the specific occupancy. Do not energize the panel until all initiating device circuits and notification appliance circuits have been verified for correct wiring and continuity.
