The POLYMER ADHESIVES CADS-2W is a fiber-reinforced, water-based duct mastic sealant formulated to pressure-seal HVAC duct systems. It bonds to metal, fiberglass, duct board, and flexible ductwork, creating a durable air barrier that reduces leakage and supports system efficiency. The fiber reinforcement adds structural integrity across joints, seams, and connections subject to movement or vibration. Rated for high-velocity HVAC applications, the CADS-2W meets and exceeds SMACNA pressure and sealing class requirements. This product is applied by HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors during new construction and retrofit installations. It ships in a 2-gallon container.
The CADS-2W is suited for both indoor and outdoor duct sealing applications across residential and commercial HVAC systems. It is used on supply and return duct assemblies fabricated from sheet metal, fiberglass board, duct board, and flexible duct. Common install scenarios include air handler connections, plenum seams, branch takeoffs, and duct board butt joints. Its water-based formulation allows for easy cleanup and compliance with low-VOC requirements common in commercial construction projects.
Designed for use on metal, fiberglass, duct board, and flexible ductwork in residential and commercial HVAC duct systems requiring pressure-rated mastic sealing.
HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors apply duct mastic using a brush, trowel, or gloved hand to clean, dry duct surfaces. Power down the air handling system before applying sealant to joints, seams, and connections. Allow adequate cure time before pressurizing the duct system and conducting any leakage testing per SMACNA or local mechanical code requirements. Follow all applicable OSHA and local building code guidelines during application.
