The PLUMB SHOP DIV BRASSCRAFT MP2058PCLF is a straight supply stop valve designed for residential and light commercial plumbing installations. It features a 1/2 inch female iron pipe (FIP) inlet and a 3/8 inch outside diameter (OD) compression outlet, making it a standard configuration for connecting supply lines to fixtures such as faucets and toilets. The quarter-turn ball mechanism allows for fast shutoff with a 90-degree handle rotation. The chrome finish provides corrosion resistance in wet environments. This valve is lead free, meeting federal and state lead-free plumbing requirements for potable water systems. Licensed plumbers and journeyman-level tradespeople handle this type of fitting during rough-in and fixture-trim installations.
This stop valve is suited for under-sink and behind-toilet installations where a 1/2 inch iron pipe supply stub-out transitions to a 3/8 inch OD compression fitting for the fixture supply line. It is commonly installed in residential kitchens, bathrooms, and utility spaces. The straight body configuration is appropriate when the supply stub-out and fixture inlet are in direct alignment. The compact profile allows installation in tight cabinet spaces and wall cavities typical of residential construction and remodel work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation stop valve for residential plumbing systems with 1/2 inch female iron pipe supply stub-outs and 3/8 inch OD compression fixture connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the main water supply and depressurize the line before removing an existing valve or making new connections. Apply thread sealant tape to all male iron pipe threads before hand-tightening, then snug with a wrench — do not overtighten, as this can crack the valve body or damage threads. Verify the compression nut and ferrule are properly seated on the supply line before pressurizing to check for leaks.
