The PROTECTIVE INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS 280-hp1491rm-08 is an ANSI Type II, Class E industrial climbing helmet designed for work at heights and in confined spaces. It features a lightweight ABS outer shell paired with an integrated EPS foam impact liner that absorbs energy from both top-of-head and lateral impacts. A Mips low-friction layer allows the head to move 10 to 15 millimeters relative to the shell in all directions, redirecting rotational forces away from the brain during an oblique impact. A 4-point chin strap and HDPE suspension with wheel ratchet adjustment ensure a secure, repeatable fit across a range of head sizes.
This helmet is built for industrial climbing applications, including work on towers, scaffolding, structures, and in confined-space entry scenarios. The Type II rating means it is tested for lateral impact protection in addition to top impact, making it appropriate for situations where the head may strike a surface from the side. The non-vented design also suits environments where debris or chemical splash is a concern. Licensed safety professionals and site supervisors typically specify this helmet where ANSI Type II and EN 12492 compliance are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-use option for industrial climbing helmet applications requiring ANSI Type II and EN 12492 compliance.
Fitting and adjustment should be performed by the end user before entering a hazardous work area. Use the wheel ratchet to achieve a snug fit, then secure the 4-point chin strap so the helmet cannot be displaced by impact or wind. Inspect the EPS liner and ABS shell for cracks or deformation after any impact event — a helmet that has sustained a significant impact must be taken out of service even if no visible damage is present. Follow the site safety plan and applicable OSHA regulations for head protection requirements at height.
